James McQueeney Obituary

James Leo McQueeney, 78, of Manchester, NH, died January 20, 2025, after a period of declining health.

Born in Manchester on April 19, 1946, James was the son of Marie Jeannette (Boisvert) McQueeney. A proud member of the Bishop Bradley High School Class of 1964, he went on to earn his degree from Plymouth State University in 1968, setting the stage for a life dedicated to both learning and teaching.

James spent more than thirty-eight years as a devoted educator, touching the lives of countless students at Manchester West High School. As a biology and physical education teacher, he left a lasting impression on his students, using his quick wit and showing genuine care for his students. As a founding leader of the A.L.F.(Alternative Learning for Freshman) program, James dedicated his career to providing safe and nurturing environments for students to thrive. He retired in 2006, but the influence of his teaching and mentorship can still be felt in the hearts of those he inspired.

James' contributions to the community extended beyond the classroom, he spent many years coaching a variety of sports at West High and St Joseph Regional Jr High. His natural leadership and dedication led to many championships and a renowned program. His pride in his community shone through his involvement in these activities, and he will be fondly remembered as someone who gave generously of his time and talents, always with a smile on his face.

With a heart as big as his sense of humor, James was known for his kindness, selflessness, and an uncanny ability to brighten any room with his quick wit and dry sarcasm. Whether engaging in lively conversation or sharing a quiet moment, James had a way of making everyone feel special. He was truly a man who brought light into the lives of all who knew him.

James is survived by his loving wife of forty-seven years, Linda (Danielson) McQueeney; his son, Brendan McQueeney and his wife, Devin Jankovich, of Chicago, IL; his daughter, Kaitlin McQueeney of Manchester; his grandson, Miro McQueeney; his brother, Owen "Mac" McQueeney of Manchester; his nephew, Michael McQueeney of Goffstown; as well as extended family and many dear friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.

Services: Calling hours are Tuesday, January 28, 2025, from 4 to 7 PM at Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union Street, Manchester, NH.

Mr McQueeney, as I Knew him, was the best! Although I did not have him as a teacher at West, I came to know him through a shared enthusiasm for exercise. He encouraged me to become certified to teach aerobics through the Ys community programs. He was a joy to be around. My husband, also a West High grad, and I send our sincere condolences to his family- Love Chris & Doug Blais

Linda,
Jim was one of my favorite customers at the store. Still remember his favorite saying, "My wife finally let me out to get my $10 allowance".
Always with a smile, always with his sense of humor, he will be sorely missed.

"Hardworking, helpful, honorable, hopeful, humble, and humorous." These are the words that come to mind when I think of Jim. He had a tremendous impact on everyone. We are all better people for having known Jim. I will miss Jim, but I am confident that we will meet again in the new heavens and the new earth. Till then, Jim, may the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sunshine be warm upon your face, the rainfall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand

Linda, Kaitlyn, and Brendan. We are so sorry. We remember warmly our days from Triple Treat with the girls to THS football and Notre Dame with the boys. Many memories of you all. I think I remember most of Jim: his kinda-bemused smile. And his complete devotion to all of you. May God bless you all.

Jim was a part of my life as I was growing up and have many memories of him stored away that make appearances from time to time. Also, I would randomly run into someone who would tell me they met someone who knew me and he said to call you Delahantree... I always knew it was Jim that they had run into. He will be missed. Deepest condolences to Linda, Katie, Brendan and family❤
