Jason Shuryn Obituary

On Sunday, Aug. 29, Jason Douglas Shuryn of Kingston, N.H., suffered a medical emergency, resulting in a tragic automobile accident, claiming his life at only 33.

Jason was the beloved son of Judith Levine of Wayne, N.J., and Stephen Shuryn, currently residing in Georgia.

After he graduated from Tottenville High School in 2007, he directed his strengths into the military, enlisting in the United States Navy in 2010. Jason served his country as a Navy SEAL during multiple clandestine overseas operations. Jason had earned an Associate's Degree and was in the process of completing his senior year courses to obtain his Bachelor's Degree.

Jason is survived by his 7-year-old son, the care and love of whom was Jason's primary joy and motivation. He is also survived by both of his parents, his brothers Scott Shuryn, twin brother Greg Shuryn and his wife, Lauren Shuryn, sisters Melanie Aho and Stephanie Shuryn, as well as numerous adoring cousins and nephews.

Post-military, Jason has resided in New Hampshire. Jason has an amazing work ethic. He channeled his talents into several opportunities, including the Kittery Naval Shipyard, teaching responsible gun ownership and marksmanship at SIG Sauer and private security services. He most recently worked as assistant brewer and maintenance at WHYM in Hampton, N.H., quickly gleaning a passion for the science and craft of brewing beer.

Jason was a family man at heart, devoted to his son, immediate and extended family, including his devoted uncle Bob Levine's family in East Kingston and Exeter. Jason was passionate for life. That passion included living life to the fullest and making memories with his girlfriend, Lauren Twombly. While Jason's most obvious capability was his physical strength and endurance, he was also phenomenally strong-willed, a talented artist and as comfortable in the water as walking on land. Jason was a man of honor, strong physically and emotionally. He was a sympathetic and compassionate man who kept his son and family at the heart of everything he pursued. He was, and always will be, forever loved and missed by his family and friends.

In remembrance of Jason, a public viewing and celebration of his life will be held 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4 at Brewitt's Funeral Home on 14 Pine Street in Exeter.

Jason was both a beneficiary of and strong supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project. Should you wish to remember him and recognize his service, please make a memorial donation in Jason's name.
