John Edward Breen

On Sunday 22 March 2026 John Edward Breen, age 75, of Litchfield, New Hampshire, passed away, too soon, after a brief illness. His friends and family know he is really at that happy fishing spot on the river with his fly rod casting out to that big Brook Trout.

John was born in Washington DC, and grew up in Framingham, Massachusetts. He was raised by his father, John (Jack) Edward Breen Sr. and mother, Lucille Bergstrom Breen. He finally set his roots down in the Granite State when he graduated from St. Anselm College.

There he deepened his love of history, especially Russian history and geography. He knew where Tajikistan was. John was always reading about and continuing to explore so many different facets of our world.

But he did not just sit and read, John loved to hunt, though no animal ever need fear him.

His greatest fondness was to fly fish. This joy was shared with his wife, Lynn, and their son Sean. He enjoyed many a fishing excursion with friends and family here in New Hampshire, and across the country.

John will always be remembered and missed for his delightful, cynical, sarcastic, sense of humor. His stories would hold the table captive, as all laughed heartily along with him. John also shared the love of Labrador Retrievers with his family all his life. John will be missed by his buddy, Bek.

John was very committed to his family, whom he loved dearly. And his love, was always reinforced with his words and deeds. John will be missed in so many ways by family, friends, and his furry children.

John is survived by his wife, Lynn (Amitrano) Breen, his beloved son, Sean Lambert Breen, and wife, Brittany Basey Breen, his two cherished granddaughters, Wednesday, and Caelan.

John also leaves behind his siblings, Paul Breen and his wife Liz, and their family, Peter Breen and his wife Lisa, and family, John's sister, Barbara Breen Toran and her husband Jeff, and their family, as well and Mark Breen and his family.

We all say good bye to a good, kind man who left us too soon. There will be no services.
