John C. Decknick
GOFFSTOWN €" John Chester Decknick died on 16 April 2011 at Laurel Center in Bedford, NH, surrounded by his loving wife and family and the wonderful staff of Laurel Center. He was born April 7, 1934, in Simpson, Pennsylvania, to hard-working Polish immigrants, John and Sophie Dechnick. He enlisted in the Navy at age 18, and served during the Korean War on the USS Neptune. While in the Navy, he served with his best friend Eddie Dwyer, and also met his future wife, Eddie's little sister, Patricia Ann Dwyer. Pat and John were married for 54 wonderful years.
John leaves behind his devoted wife Pat, their six children (and their loved ones), John (Sammie), Mary (John), Shirley (Jim), James (Melissa), Patricia (Vincent), and Joan (Jeff); 19 grandchildren, and many other family members, including his brothers Jerry and Tom, and big sister Joan.
John is predeceased by his sister Marion, brother Ray, and great-granddaughter Lola.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at French and Rising Funeral Home 17 South Mast St. Goffstown. Funeral services will follow at 10:00AM in the funeral home. Committal services with military honors will take place 2:00 PM at N.H. State Veterans Cemetery of Boscawen.
