John Nielsen Obituary

John Harold Nielsen Sr., age 79, passed away on October 23, 2024 at Catholic Medical Center after a lengthy illness, with his loving wife and granddaughter by his side.

Born in Manchester, he was the son of James Nielsen and Margaret (Guthrie) Nielsen. He was educated in the Manchester school system and graduated from Alvirne High school, after which he enlisted in the New Hampshire National Guard. His working career was always in the construction trade. He was a man of many talents, with a very dry sense of humor. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved flea markets and yard sales, horse racing and football.

John is predeceased by his beloved older son, John Nielsen Jr. and cherished brother, Thomas Guthrie and wife Elaine, as well as four nephews. He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Marlene (Simpson) Nielsen, his youngest son, Steven Nielsen and Maryellen Grenier; brothers, Donald and Jim Nielsen; his adored granddaughter, Alexis Nielsen and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his oldest and dearest friend, Billy Foskin and Beverly Foskin. There are not services being held, according to his wishes.
