John Zgonis Obituary
Born in Rodia, Greece, on Sept. 25, 1957, he was the son of Efthemios and Vasiliki (Hasiotis) Zgonis. He was raised in Grevena, Greece, and resided in Milford for many years. He moved to Bedford in 2002.
Yianni earned a bachelor of arts degree in electrical engineering from the University of Lowell.
He co-owned and operated Pizza Bella in Bedford since 1991.
Yianni will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband and father. He was happiest when spending time with his family. He was an avid Harley-Davidson motorcycle enthusiast who enjoyed riding his soft-tail motorcycle. He was a skilled handyman who could repair anything. He also enjoyed traveling.
In addition to his parents of Greece, family members include his wife of 26 years, Aphrodite (Vasilopoulos) Zgonis of Bedford; three daughters, Vickie, Litsa and Themie all of Bedford; and his sister, Anthoula of Greece.

services:Calling hours are Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union St., corner of Concord and Union Streets, Manchester.
The Trisagion service will take place Wednesday evening at 7:15 p.m. in the funeral home.
The funeral service will be held Thursday at noon in St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church, 500 W. Hollis Street, Nashua, with the Rev. Thomas Chininis, officiating.
Burial will take place in West Lawn Cemetery, Lowell, Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hellenic Cardiac Fund, Boston Children's Hospital, 300 Longwood Ave., Boston 02115.

we cant believe it we,cant! Today tom went to alekas work and he said the nasty and we cant calm down.Not my tsoliakos!!a great man with a great family that I had the honor to have them neighbor in Greece.the world has a lost a loving, kind, hard working man a great father and husband!!

I am so sorry to hear this news. I was one of the first employees to work at Pizza Bella. On Friday nights it would get really busy - the tables would be full, a line would be forming of people waiting to order, the phone would be ringing non-stop, the delivery people would need change, food was ready to be brought out and I would be the only one at the register while Tony and Yianni made the food. Inevitably a little league team would come in around then and I would glance over at Yianni who would be working by the grill. He would smile and give me a wink that said "Don't worry! We can handle it!". Since then, no matter where I have worked, I picture Yianni winking when things start to feel overwhelming. He was a great man. He loved his family and brought a lot of happiness to the Bedford community. We will miss him.

The Broken Chain
We little know that morning that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone; for part of us went with you, the day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide; and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side. Dear Zgonis family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you all right now as you deal with such a terrible loss. I was fortunate enough to be able to work for Yianni and it was a pleasure working for him. He was a wonderful boss and he would always smile, say hello and "how are you," whenever I came in. Today the world has a lost a loving, kind, hard working man.

DeeDee, Vicki, Litsa, Themie - Oh Yanni - the beloved and loving husband, the daddy who ADORED his girls - Sweet Yanni. He was Always good to me, Always kind, Always helpful, Always sweet with my doggies. Yanni has a Golden Soul - we are all thankful for his loving way and will miss the light he brought to our lives.

Those of us living in Bedford know Yanni to be an icon in our community. An extremely hard worker, active in the community and boundless devotion to his family. I consider myself blessed to have known Yanni. "Buddy" you will be sorely missed!

So many of my fondest memories are of times spent with Yianni. How truly blessed I was to have my first job be for one of the kindest men I would ever know. Each one of us was always made to feel a part of your family...I've taken that with me everywhere I've gone since. My heart is with you, his girls, now at this time of loss. I don't have to tell you what a wonderful man Yianni was. Anyone who was blessed to know him, already knows that.
