Joseph Christian Obituary

MANCHESTER - Joseph J. Christian, 78, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at Elliot Hospital.

Mr. Christian was born on April 14, 1934, in Lowell, Mass., the son of the late Hector and Lillian (Neault) Christian.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Christian was employed in security and worked for Merrimack Valley Security.

His greatest passion was horse racing and spending time at Rockingham Park. He also enjoyed fishing, fly tying and hunting.

Members of his family include his wife of 58 years, Lucy J. (Brunelle) Christian of Manchester; a son, Kenneth J. Christian of Weare; a daughter, Kimberly J. Jepson of Manchester; one grandchild; two great- grandchildren; a brother, Raoul Christian of W. Topsham, Vt.; a half-brother, Harold "Sonny" Jervah of Derry; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Christian was predeceased by a sister, Irene Courtois, and a half-brother, Albert Neault, both of Lowell, Mass..

SERVICES: A memorial gathering will be held Friday, Sept. 7, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover St., corner of Union Street, in Manchester. A memorial service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Manchester.
