Joseph McLaughlin Obituary

Joseph Wheeler McLaughlin, 100, passed away on October 9, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Magnolia, Mississippi on January 26, 1924 to Thomas and Otera (Wheeler) McLaughlin.

Joseph enlisted into the U.S. Navy in 1942 and proudly served in World War II in the South Pacific. He was a member of the King Sirus Masonic Lodge in Stoneham, MA. He was an avid painter of homes and scenery. He loved to watch baseball and football with his son in law Dennis. He cherished his southern roots and was an accomplished chef of southern cuisine. He loved to laugh and saw joy in everything in life. He was a friend to all and gave generously of his spirit to all he met.

He is survived by his wife Barbara (Whitney) McLaughlin, son James McLaughlin, three daughters Lynda McLaughlin, Joanne Jean and Margaret McLaughlin. He is well loved by 14 grandchildren, more than 35 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday October 15, 2024 at 11am at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery 110 Daniel Webster Highway Boscawen, NH 03303.In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Liberty House for Veterans in Manchester NH.
