Joseph Rienert Obituary

Joseph C. Rienert, 82, of Hooksett, NH, passed away on January 25, 2026, following a brief period of declining health.

Born in Manchester, NH, on May 21, 1943, he was the son of the late Carl and Margaret (Woods) Rienert. Joseph was raised in Manchester and attended Manchester High School Central.

Joseph proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Albany and remained deeply committed to his fellow veterans throughout his life. He was an active member of the American Legion Henry J. Sweeney Post #2, where he valued the camaraderie and service it represented.

Until his retirement in 2009, Joseph worked as a truck driver with True Value, formerly True Serve, for thirty-six years. A highly skilled and dedicated professional, he was recognized for an extraordinary career marked by safety and excellence, having never been involved in an accident in his 2.75 million miles. His talent behind the wheel earned him the distinction of nine-time Truck Driving Rodeo Champion. He was also a lifelong member of Teamsters Union Local 633, a source of great pride for him.

Outside of work, Joseph embraced life with quiet enthusiasm. He was an avid Harley-Davidson motorcycle enthusiast and loved the open road. A true outdoorsman, he found great enjoyment in hunting and was a longtime member of the Deerhead Sportsman Club of Hooksett. He also served as past president of the Granite State Chariots.

Joseph will be fondly remembered for his warm smile, gentle demeanor, and generous spirit. Though often soft-spoken and reserved, he deeply enjoyed time spent with family and friends and was always happiest when laughter filled the room. His kindness was evident in countless small gestures, including his habit of treating others without hesitation.

He is survived by three sons, Scott Rienert and his wife, Michelle, of Manchester, Shawn F. Rienert and his wife, Jennifer, of Hooksett, and Erin Rienert and his wife, Selena, of Manchester; eight cherished grandchildren, Drew, Channing, Tucker, Perrin, Connor, Rowan, Skylar, and Riley; and a great-grandson, Jordan; his sister, Karen Greeley, of Maine; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved companion of thirty years, Barbara Gagnon. He is further survived by Barbara's son, Robert Gagnon and his wife, Elizabeth, of Manchester; Barbara's daughter-in-law, Karen Courchesne; Barbara's grandchildren, Josh and Keri and her husband, Derrick Bedrosian; and great-grandchildren, Stephen, Sophia, Oliver, and Harper.

He was predeceased by a son, Shawn Rienert, and by Barbara's son, Steven Courchesne.

Services: Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union Street, Manchester, NH 03104.

A funeral service will take place on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 10:00 AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford, NH.

I grew up on the second floor above the Rienert's in the 1950´s through the 1970´s. Our two families became close friends over those years and knew Karen and Joe very well, almost like a big sister and brother. I have not seen Joe for years but have good memories of him and the Rienert family in my childhood.
My wife and I send sincere condolences to the Rienert family.
Rest in Peace Joe

Joe was the "Salt of the earth". When they made him they broke the mold. Unfortunately they should have cloned him instead because the world could have used many more people like Joe. I got to know Joe quite well through the truck driving competitions. He was a fierce competitor and won often. Nobody (and I've seen many) could parallel park a truck like Joe could. No pull-ups and would most often score 50 (the maximum) points. He will certainly be missed. RIP Joe, you have done enough. I'll see you on the other side.
