Joyce Provencher, of Westbrook, Maine, passed away suddenly on October 6, 2025. Joyce was a bright light in the lives of all who knew her. Her loving and caring nature touched everyone she met, and she created lasting connections with so many.
Born in Manchester, NH, in 1957, she was the devoted daughter of Lucille and Gerard Provencher whom she lived with until their passing. While living in Manchester, she was lovingly embraced by the VA Hospital employees and received numerous years of service awards. She was dearly loved by her caretakers and her community of family and friends.
Joyce moved to Maine in 2016 to live with her sister Lynn and her sister-in-law, Dee Tutino, where she found a new home and community that she cherished deeply. Joyce loved her friends and the support she received at STRIVE, her camp friends at EC Week, and the many neighbors who looked forward daily to her bright smile and cheerful wave.
Joyce continued to help others and give back to her community. She gave her time to the Ronald McDonald House, the Maine Audubon, and the Preble Street Kitchen. Her kindness extended to every living thing - including the horses in her neighborhood, whom she visited daily to feed and care for with gentle dedication.
Joyce was truly a light in the lives of those around her. She was the sweetest and most loving person, she inspired others to appreciate simplicity, to see the beauty in people, to laugh at the small things and to dance with joy. She also found joy in life's little comforts - cats curled up nearby, her favorite music playing, classic episodes of The Golden Girls, and a handful of M&Ms to sweeten the moment. Joyce was also an expert communicator and keeper of an event calendar---lucky were those gifted with her phone calls, voice messages, letters, and reminders of a nearing birthday, anniversary.... Joyce managed a list of family and friends she held close to her heart and with ease and speed, you were added and became part of her call, card, and letter list.
Joyce loved her family. She shared a special bond with her sister Lynn Tutino, her devoted caretaker and closest companion, and her sister-in-law Dee, who were always by her side. She was the beloved sister of Michael Provencher and his wife, Jo-An and her sister, Teri Reed. Along with her parents, Joyce is reunited with her brother, David Provencher who passed away this year. She was the treasured aunt of Jeremy, Nathan, Nicole, Garrett, Colin, Cameron, Alyson, and Maddyson. Joyce was blessed to be a great aunt to seven nieces and nephews in her ever-growing family. Joyce adored her two dogs, Rigby and Scout, who brought her endless joy and comfort.
Her Maine family was also deeply important to her. She adored her mother-in-law, Jackie Wood, her sisters-in-law Jessica, Ashley and Jean, brother-in-law Dominic and his wife, Karen, niece Josephine, nephew Dominic, and all her beloved cousins in Maine, New Hampshire and beyond.
In her final moments, Joyce was surrounded by love the love of her family. She left this world as she lived it - deeply loved, and forever giving of her heart to others.
Her kindness, joy, and gentle spirit will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. In remembrance, we ask that you remember the gifts she gave to all, to appreciate simplicity, to see the beauty in people, to laugh at the small things and to dance with joy.
