Kathleen Goulet Obituary

Kathleen Goulet, died May 30, 2023, peacefully in her own home in Manchester, NH.

Kathleen was married to Robert Joseph Romeo Goulet (Born August 6, 1933, died February 19, 2002) on June 21, 1958. They were married for 43 years, until Robert's death. Together they raised 7 children, all of whom survive her: Anthony Goulet; Denis Charles, married to Kathee Goulet (nee Doran); Kristen Allen (nee Goulet), married to Erica Allen; Edward Goulet, married to Melissa Goulet (nee Roy); Gretchen Goulet & partner Bill Jenks; Martin Goulet, married to Anna Goulet Zimmerman (nee Zimmerman); and Stephanie Goulet. She leaves 15 grandchildren (Dylan Doran, Shane & Casey Goulet, Sophie & Keenan Allen, Willow, Noah & Zoey Lafaso, Zachary & Ellie Goulet, Trinity & Merlyn Zimmerman, Katie & Naomi Stowe, and Willem Jenks) and 5 great-grandchildren (Jillian, Graham, Collins, Jameson, and Luca). Kathleen and Robert raised their family in a loving and sharing partnership in South Bend, IN, Weare, and then Manchester, NH.

Kathleen was born February 13, 1935, in Waltham, Massachusetts to Edward Aloysius Gorman and Ruth Anne Gorman (nee Cleary). She had two sisters, Nancy Gorman, who predeceased her, and Patricia Brown (nee Gorman). Their father died in 1951, and the family was raised by Ruth, with precocious assistance from Kathleen. She lost her mother in 1988.

Kathleen started her professional career as a Research Assistant in microbiology at Children's Cancer Research Foundation in Boston, from 1955-59, where she worked on research which would lead to a Nobel prize for its lead researcher. She taught high school mathematics from 1974-87. When her children were independent enough, she followed her father's footsteps and received her Juris Doctor in 1990. She maintained her own successful law practice until her retirement in 2018.

Her deep love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, her eternal optimism, her belief in people, and her forbearance under difficult circumstances were hallmarks of Kathleen's life in word and action. For these qualities and for her many kindnesses she will be remembered and deeply missed.

A celebration of Kathleen's life will be held in July at a location to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the New Hampshire Division for Children, Youth and Families (https://www.dhhs.nh.gov/division-children-youth-and-families).

My thoughts and condolences to the Goulet family. I had been thinking of Edward, Gretchen, and Stephanie when I came across Mrs. Goulet remembrance. Will miss her, but will always have a place in my heart for her. She taught me math and sciences, grew up with her family, and then moved on.

My deepest sympathies to the family. I had great conversations with her while doing her nails. Such a brilliant woman, it was so great just listening to her . May God Bless you all and may she rest in the arms of the Angels

Kathleen, I miss taking you and the others to the symphony and theater. I'm sure up in Heaven there is an orchestra performing and you have front row seats.
