NEWPORT - Kiratsa "Kay" M. Tarullo, formerly of Beech Street, passed away at Pine Rock Manor in Warner Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, where she had been a resident for the past two years.Kay was born in Newport, July 20, 1916, daughter to the late Athamasi and Maria (Mechidash) Vaeni. She was raised and educated in Newport graduating from Towle High School in 1934, and attended Elliot Secretarial College in Providence, R.I. Kay married Ernest E. Tarullo in 1947 and shared 58 years together until he passed in 2005. Together as seamstress and tailor they owned and operated for 35 years Ernie's Mill Ends, later known as Ernie's Fabrics. She also owned and maintained an apartment building on Sullivan Street in Newport. Kay was a lifetime member of St. Patrick's Church and past member of the Catholic Women's Club, the Women's Business Association, a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader and PTA Member. For many years Ernie and Kay supported the Foster Child program in African Missions, and always put others first. They were very caring and compassionate with neighbors, making sure they had holiday meals. Together they would also visit residents at Woodlawn and Summercrest. Kay was a restorer and upholster of furniture, and a gardener, which was truly her passion.She is survived by her daughters Maria E. Tarullo of Norfolk, Mass., Eve Tarullo of Stamford, Conn., and Tina Ciecimirski (husband John Ciecimirski) of Greenwich, Conn., and her grandson, Evan Ciecimirski of Greenwich, Conn.She was predeceased by her daughter Ann Tarullo, her son Ernest A. Tarullo, her sister Bette Kulesza, and her brother, Starkey Vaeni..
services: Friends may call on the family from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 5, 2015, at the Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main St. in Newport.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon on Friday, March 6 at St. Patrick's Church, 32 Beech St. in Newport, with Rev.
