Leonard Bond Obituary

Leonard "Lenny" B. Bond, 84, of Manchester, NH, died April 23, 2024, after a courageous health battle.

Born in Manchester, NH on April 11, 1940, he was the son of Sherman and Gladys (Hildegard) Bond. He was a lifelong resident of the Queen City.

Lenny attended Manchester High School Central.

During the Korean War, he proudly served with the United States Army, in the United Nations Occupation Forces.

Lenny was employed with P.I.E Inc. Trucking. Later, he worked with Ryder Trucking.

Devoted to his faith, he was a communicant of St. Anthony Church.

He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 633, Disabled American Veterans, the Mount Royal Club, the Davignon Club, and the American Legion Henry J. Sweeney Post #2.

His hobbies included fishing, dancing, camping, and building model military tanks and airplanes. He was fond of his cat, Blackie. Those who knew him will never forget his colorful stories, humor, quick wit, and straight forward personality. Lenny will be deeply missed and his memory held dear.

He was married to his beloved wife for forty-two years, Claire (Hebert) Bond. She died February 20, 2016. He was also predeceased by two brothers, Kenneth Bond and Thomas Bond.

Family members include his daughter, Melissa Bond-Dupray and her husband, Michael, of Raymond; two granddaughters, Kaylee and Olivia; his stepsons, Kevin Furgal and Raymond Furgal; a stepdaughter, Diane Johnston; a sister, Sandra Marchiwicz; two brothers, Bernard Bond and Russell Bond; many nieces and nephews; and his longtime companion, Marjorie Luis.

Services: Calling hours are Thursday, May 2, 2024, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union Street, Manchester, NH.

A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 10:30 AM.

Burial with military honors will proceed at New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH.

Lenny loved his family so much. You could see it when they were together. Lenny’s second love I believe was the military. He always had a story to tell when you talked to him. He will be missed!
