Louis Gosselin Obituary

It is with great sadness that our beloved uncle Louis A. Gosselin has passed away peacefully on Friday, May 17, 2024 at the Granite Hospice House in Concord, NH.

He was born on May 8, 1941 in Manchester, NH to George P. and Laura (Guillemette) Gosselin. Born blind, Louis attended the Perkins Institute for the blind in Boston, Massachusetts, followed by his graduation at Bishop Bradley High School in Manchester. Louie went on to get his bachelor's degree from Boston College in Massachusetts and his Masters degree from Northwestern University in Kalamazoo, Michigan in Behavioral Sciences. Following his graduation, he pursued a career with the NH Association for the blind and worked with them until his retirement. He truly loved life and he didn't let his disability deter him. He loved spending time with his family and friends, listening to music and the NPR radio. He is survived by nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his sister Juliette (Gosselin) Quilter, brothers Romeo Gosselin, Robert P. Gosselin, Albert Gosselin and Maurice Gosselin.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Louis's name to: Future in Sight (formerly NH Association for the Blind) at 25 Walker St., Concord, NH or Granite Hospice House, 240 Pleasant St., Concord, NH 03301.

My parents were best friends of the Pepinos, and we spent many Sundays in the summer at their camp on Horace Lake visiting with Romey and Betty Gosselin, Maurice and Louis. My favorite memory of Louis is from my childhood when Romey, Louis and I swam across Horace Lake (Louis was in a giant inner tube!) They were all such wonderful people. Our condolences to his family.

I lived on Green Street, a couple of blocks from Louis. He was two years ahead of me at Bradley. We often took the bus together near Wilson School to/from Bradley. However, we sometimes walked together to school (yes, all the way up the hill!). I had a hard time keeping up with him! We had some wonderful talks together. He was a good influence on me. . .My condolences to his family.

Louie was my neighbor when I was growing up on Cedar Street and I remember when he was born. His sister Juliette brought him across the street to show us her little brother. So I have known him all my life and what a great man he turned out to be and never let his blindness interfere with his wonderful education. His brother Maurice was his best friend. RIP Louie until we meet again.
