Marlene Selby Obituary

WOODSTOCK - Marlene M. Selby, 88, of Young Street, North Woodstock, died Dec. 24, 2011, at Littleton Hospital following a period of declining health.

Born on April 1, 1923, in Bakersfield, Vt., she was the daughter of Gerald G. and Mabel M. (Plumb) Maynard.

Her first husband, Gerald Betteres, was killed in World War II.

Mrs. Selby was a homemaker and a longtime resident of North Woodstock.

She was employed as a cashier at the First National Store in Plymouth and as a front desk clerk and assistant manager at the Holiday Inn in Plymouth.

She enjoyed knitting, sewing, cooking, and the company of her cats.

She was a 55-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star in North Woodstock.

Her second husband, Arthur Selby, died in 2004 and her son, Gerald T. Selby, died in 2008.

She is survived by three grandchildren, Patty Jo Arsenault of Fayetteville, Tenn., Jon Thomas Selby (Shannon Bernard) of Des Moines, Iowa, and David Desrosiers of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two great-grandchildren, Geron Selby of Des Moines and Kenneth Arsenault of Fayetteville; a brother, John Maynard (Pat) of North Woodstock; nephews Dana Maynard of Campton, Scott Maynard of North Woodstock, and Michael Martin (Jori) of Lincoln; a niece, Barbara Wiggett (Edward) of North Woodstock; several grand-nieces and grand-nephews; a cousin, Judy Marrien of Littleton.

SERVICES: A funeral service is at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, at Fournier-Hale Funeral Home, 144 Main St., North Woodstock.

A calling hour is at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service.

Burial will be in the spring at Woodstock Cemetery.
