Michael Welch Obituary

Michael R. Welch (62) passed away at his home in Syracuse, NY. Michael was born in Manchester NH to Raymond and Barbara (Zajechowski) Welch and grew up in Litchfield, NH.

Upon graduating with honors from Alvirne High School in Hudson, NH in 1979, Michael studied Chemistry at St. Anselm's College in Goffstown, NH graduating with a BA in Natural Sciences (Chemistry) in 1984. Upon graduating from college, Michael worked for Polyclad Laminates in Franklin, NH where he had the skills and aptitude for the design and patenting of an advanced Prepreg Laminate for the US Military. Michael's chemistry took him to the West Coast before finishing his career in upstate NY after many years in the chemistry/manufacturing industry.

Michael was vibrant and full of life and his passion for motorcycles and motocross led him to compete throughout New England while racing the New England Sports Committee (NESC) Motor Cross for many seasons. As a young adult, Michael enjoyed and was an enthusiastic skier. Michael was an avid hunter; he shared his love for music with others and enjoyed time spent at the beach in the summers with his family.

Michael was also proud of his accomplishments of competing in multiple Golden Gloves tournaments at the Boxing Hall of Fame in Canastota, NY, but most of all, family was his biggest passion.

Michael will be forever missed by his family and will always hold a special place in our hearts for cotton candy spindles.

I did not have the pleasure of knowing Michael personally, but I have been fortunate to befriend Raymond, Jillian and Kristen. Michaels children always spoke highly about their father and it was always clear that they loved and admired him. His family has always showered me with kindness and for that I am grateful. Although he was taken too soon, he lived a life full of achievements and leaves behind quite the legacy.

When I think of Mike Welch, I can't help but think of Evel Knievel or the Bionic Man. Mike was such a daredevil and always rallied through the accidents that ensued. My heart is so heavy for each of you. I pray that all the love and good times you shared with Mike support you during your moments of grief.
Sending my love and prayers.

Hampton Beach will always be a place the reminds me of my father, he enjoyed all beach activities - sand castles, flying kites, walking the jetty.

I remember as a little girl my dad always playing at the park with me and my brother, chasing us all around. He was definitely the fun dad. I miss him.
