Neil Robertson Obituary

THORNTON---Neil Bates Robertson of Thornton and Piermont, NH died unexpectedly at home in Piermont, NH on September 8, 2017 at the age of 85.

Neil was born on March 11, 1932 in St. Johnsbury, VT to Paul and Ida (Bates) Robertson. He graduated from Gorham High School in 1950. After serving in the Army from 1953-1955 during the Korean War, Neil moved to Plymouth, NH. He worked as a logger with his father, as a road agent for 28 years for the town of Thornton, NH and drove for E. Dole Company and Haywood Transportation before starting his own business, Robertson Transit in 1977. His company served local schools, including SAU 48 and 68, Ashland and local camps for over 40 years before he retired in 2016. He was a 45 year member of the American Legion Post 83 in Lincoln, NH.

He enjoyed attending baseball and football games over the many years he transported the many teams. Since retiring, he loved spending time at his family farm in Piermont, NH.

Neil is survived by his wife of 56 years, Agnes "Aggie" Robertson of Thornton, NH; one daughter from a previous marriage, Wendy Gilman of Concord, NH; step children Virginia Perkins of Lincoln, NH and Deb Cunha of Concord, NH; his siblings Marian Dunn of Lebanon, NH, Polly Marvin of Piermont, NH, and Bill Robertson of Lebanon, NH; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents; his step-mother Sylvia Robertson; his daughter Kim Ash; his step sons Butch Burhoe and Donnie Burhoe; and grandchildren Dennis Perkins and Brent Gilman.

Neil was very appreciative of the family support he received over the past several years.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday, September 13 from 6-8 pm at Mayhew Funeral Home in Plymouth, NH. A graveside service is planned for Friday, September 15th at 11 am at the Mad River Cemetery in Thornton, with a reception to follow at the Covered Bridge Farm Table in Campton, NH.

All are welcome to attend and celebrate Neil's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the NH Humane Society, 1305 Meredith Center Road, Laconia, NH 03246.

Neils's granddaughter is a dear friend of mine. She has often spoken of her time with her grandfather and I know he meant the world to her. I wish Brandi and her family peace and courage as they face the loss of Neil.
