Peter Rosanelli Obituary

RICHMOND, Va. - Dr. Peter Rosanelli Jr., 78, passed away Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Pamela Grizzard Rosanelli; his children, Lynley Rosanelli Cavanaugh and husband, Tom, of Richmond, Stephanie Meredith Faul and husband, John, of Newport Beach, Calif. and Cabell Thomas Rosanelli and wife, Jamie, of Washington, D.C. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Blair Neil Cavanaugh; his brothers and sisters, Marie-Louise Rosanelli Metzger, Madeline Marie Rosanelli Davenport and Richard Charles Rosanelli, all of Richmond; and his seven nieces and nephews. Peter was a 1954 graduate of St. Christopher's School, 1958 graduate of Hampden-Sydney College and a 1965 graduate of the Medical College of Virginia, where he completed his OB/GYN residency. Peter served two years in the U.S. Air Force as a captain. He was stationed in Loring, Maine, and performed his duties as a military OB/GYN. In 1971, he entered into private practice in Richmond, Va., following in his father, Dr. Peter Rosanelli Sr.'s footsteps. Peter devoted his entire professional life to his patients and the practice of medicine until he retired in June 2010. Family time meant the world to Peter, he would never miss his childrens' sporting events and time at the lake. Peter and his family spent every summer on Lake Winnipesaukee, whether it was boating, kayaking, water skiing or relaxing to the sound of the loons. One of his favorite memories was driving the vintage "Miss Winnipesaukee" Chris-Craft Triple Cockpit Runabouts during his college summers in Centre Harbor, N.H.

I just learned today of the passing of Dr Rosanelli. He became my doctor 3 days after his father who delivered my daughter passed. He was my doctor for 40 years and also delivered my son. He was very kind and compassionate always. He was so knowledgeable always. I know he is on that big lake above us with his beautiful boat.

He was my my doctor from the time his practice was on the corner of Franklin St near VCU until I moved away nearly 20 years later. He was a good man, a fine doctor and he will be missed. Special condolences to Red and Fr. Joe.

I will miss waving to Dr. Rosanelli on my walks to the bridge. I will miss seeing him proudly at the helm of his boat.

I offer our deepest sympathy during this time of such a great loss. Dr. Rosanelli delivered my only child thirty two years ago on November 24,1982 and we speak of him often. More than a doctor a true friend to all. You all will remain in our prayers.
