Richard Dyer Obituary

Richard Dyer 79, a 25-year resident of Goffstown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 22. He had been recovering from a stroke. He was born and raised in Santa Maria, California, the third and youngest child of Clyde and Katherine Dyer.

Richard serviced in the United States Navy from 1959-1966 and was a radio operator aboard Navy planes. Following his discharge from the Navy, he moved around on the west coast, living in Portland, Oregon for a time and also worked in the California Central Valley, picking fruit.

He worked at Electropac in Manchester from 1984-2001, and moved to Goffstown in 1993. He was a long-standing member of the Lions Club and attended St. Lawrence Church in Goffstown. Richard enjoyed eating out and was well known in restaurants around Goffstown and Manchester. It was not unlike Richard to drive to the Woodshed in Moultonborough for a good steak. Richard was well traveled; his favorite destination was Ireland. He also loved music and attended many shows at the Palace Theatre and at St. Anselms College. He enjoyed gardening at the Karanikas Farm in Goffstown.

Richard is survived by a sister, Barbara Dyer, of Santa Maria, CA and his nieces and nephew, Marie Ghiringhelli, Carol Braunstein, and Michael Dyer, and their families, all of California. He was predeceased by his parents and by his brother, John Dyer.

Services will be held at Saint Lawrence's Church in Goffstown on Thursday October 4th at 11.00. A Catholic burial will follow immediately after the service at Shirley Hill Cemetery in Goffstown. French and Rising Funeral Home 17 South Mast St. is assisting with arrangements. For more information or to sign an online guestbook go to www.frenchandrising.com

I am Richard's cousin, 5 years older. When he was at Santa Clara and I was doing some graduate work at Stanford, he phoned and invited me to come have dinner, suggesting I take the train. We had a companionable time.
