Eight years after he died, I still remember his friendship, his energy, his smile, he intellect, his faith and his wisdom. He was a good friend since 1982. I'll never forget Dick.

I remember Dick frequently, particularly on the day he died. He was a good friend, a kind soul, a brother in Christ and in the Air Force, a fellow singer, and a man who valued his community and gave back freely. I miss his friendship, but continue our connection with his family, particularly his lovely wife Karen. Someday we'll be singing songs to Jesus together.

Our friendship began in Brussels at the US Mission to NATO in 1982. Dick was an Air Force colleague who greeted our family warmly. We remained friends until his death. I always admired and respected and loved him as a warm and loving family man, a really good leader and thinker. We who knew Dick are much richer because of that experience.

Dick was a classmate at the USAF Academy, and a good friend to have nearby. His "sports car" attitude seemed to reflect his willingness to do all that he could for his friends. A good man who will be missed indeed.

Dick was Class of 1962 RTB classmate at USAFA. We enjoyed time together serving as AOCs(TAC officers) in the early 1970s. We have fond memories of camping with Dick, Karen and all of our kids in CO. May God bless the Hodgkinson family. Jon & Carolyn Staples

Dick & I were room mates in CS11 during our Doolie & Sophomore years at the Academy. We had much in common as we were both prior enlisted (in addition to our birthdays ...mine is February 19, 1938!!) While I did not graduate I really appreciated his support & friendship during those Academy years. I am VERY grateful that we had the opportunity to briefly reconnect at the 62 Red Tag's 50th Reunion in 2012 in C. Springs. My sincere condolences for his family & friends. Bob Hackney 1062K

Wayne and family, I'm sorry to hear about your fathers passing. The bio showed that he lived a life of learning, service, teaching, and adventure. A very full life that takes a lot of determination and will power to do that year after year. Thoughts and prayers to you and your family.

Dick was one of my upper classmen at the Air Force Academy. I have good memories of him when he was a cadet. I saw him in Saigon during the Viet Nam War and later when I was at the Pentagon, his office was right down the hall. He was a fine gentleman and will be missed.

We have been so fortunate to have known Dick since days in Brussels, Belgium, in 1982. Our times together have been infrequent but always terrific. Dick loved his Lord and his family and was an inspiration to us as well. This earth will miss him, but our hope is in the Lord and we'll see him by and by. Farewell, our friend. Our love to the family in this time of grief.
