Richard Willson Obituary

WOLFEBORO - Richard "Dick" Woodrow Willson, 87, of Wolfeboro, died peacefully with his family members by his side on May 27, 2012, after his brave and thankfully brief battle with cancer.

After graduating from Everett High School, Everett, Mass., he served our country proudly in the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant, while in Europe during World War II.

After his time spent in the war, he then completed his studies at UMass Amherst and settled with his young family in Wilmington, Mass. He retired from Amica insurance after 30 years, and relocated to Wolfeboro for the life of leisure.

Dick was an avid and life-long gardener, golfer, outdoorsman and card shark. He loved music and, with his wife on piano, would volunteer his talent by singing at family weddings, local churches and nursing homes. Dick was a member of the Freemasons and also the Kingswood Golf Club, Wolfeboro.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Willson of Everett, Mass., and his siblings, Joseph, George and Robert Willson, Mildred Worthen and Eleanor Hunter.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Jean, his children, Richard and his wife, Joyce of Reading, Mass., Susan of Salem, Alan and his wife, Laurie of Norfolk, Mass., his grandchildren, Mark, Chris, Tanya and her husband, Keith Fortier, and his great-granddaughter, beautiful Isabelle.
