Robert Croteau Obituary

Robert "Bob" P. Croteau, 87, of Manchester, NH, died June 26, 2018.

Born in New London, NH on November 30, 1930, he was the son of William and Ruth "Rose" (Gay) Croteau. He was raised in New London and resided in the Queen City most of his life.

Bob graduated from Manchester High School Central, Class of 1949.

During the Korean War, he served in the United States Army. He held the rank of corporal. Bob received the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.

In his early years, he was employed as an underwriter with New Hampshire Fire Insurance Company and later at Amica Insurance Company. A successful businessman, he owned and operated Insurance Specialty Services Incorporated, until his retirement in 2018.

Devoted to his faith, he was an active member of the First United Methodist Church where served as an usher and trustee. He will also be remembered for his many church suppers.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 79, for twenty-five years.

Bob was an avid photographer and enjoyed traveling to the beaches of Maine. He also enjoyed long rides through the highways and byways of New England. His family affectionately referred to him as the "Human Road Atlas". Discovering restaurants that served homemade food was one of his favorite pastimes. His family was the center of his life. Bob especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife of sixty years, Eunice (Newton) Croteau. She died May 29, 2011.

Family members include two daughters, Pamela A. Tremblay and her husband, Marc, of Manchester and Cynthia M. Carrier and her husband, Donald, of Pembroke; a son, Brian P. Croteau and his wife, Kerrie, of Manchester; four grandchildren, Brittani, Eric, Maria, and Lily; two great-grandchildren, Rylee and Liam; and his beloved companion, Alice Bergeron.

Services: Calling hours are Monday from 4 to 7 PM at the Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union Street, Manchester, NH.

A committal service will be held Tuesday at 10:30 AM in the chapel of New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery. Burial with military honors will follow.

Memorial donations may be made to New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Route 3, Boscawen, NH 03303.

I read with sadness of your Dad's passing. He was such a staple in our office for years, doing insurance inspections, eventually bringing Pam with him. He was a nice man and will be missed.
