Roger Paris Obituary

TILTON - Roger E. Paris, 97, of Tilton, died June 7, 2018 at the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton after a lengthy illness. He was born in Manchester on November 9, 1920 the son of Frank and Rose (Doucet) Paris. He grew up in the Queen City, was educated in the local school system and was a graduate of Manchester Central High School Class of 1937A.

Following his graduation, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps and proudly served until his discharge in 1945. He was stationed in the Caribbean Area and in the South Pacific where he participated in the battle of Guadalcanal. He received the Good Conduct Medal and was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.

Roger returned to Manchester where he met and married the love of his life, the former Josephine Rozmus. They were married on June 7, 1937 and together they shared 47 years of life and love until her passing in 2005. He was employed for many years as a salesman for Sanel Auto Parts in Claremont before his retirement. He spent several years on Lake Sunapee before relocating to Ormand Beach, Florida. He returned to New Hampshire and lived with his devoted son and family. He spent his final years at the NH Veterans Home making friends, playing cards and served for a time as the President of the Residence Council. He was a member of the Lions Club of Claremont and was a lifetime member of the Massabesic Yacht Club. He loved getting together with family and friends and will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend.

He was predeceased by his brother Francis Paris and by his sisters Gilberte Seed and Georgette O'Dowd.

Members of his family include his son James Paris and his wife Bridget of Londonderry, his daughter JoAnn Beauman and her husband Robert of Unity, and his grandchildren Jeremy Paris of Manchester, Elyssa Alfieri of Concord and Robert Beauman III of Nashua as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank the staff and fellow residents at the New Hampshire Veterans Home for the love and care shown to Roger during his final years.

SERVICES: There are no calling hours. Urn burial with military honors will take place on July 23 at 11 am at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. The family as entrusted the McHugh Funeral Home with his care. Condolences may be offered at wwwmchughfuneralhome.com.
