Ronald Bechard Obituary

Ronald "Ron" L. Bechard, 85, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. He is the beloved husband of Barbara (Wixon) Bechard with whom he shared 63 wonderful years of marriage.

Ron was born in Nashua, New Hampshire on May 15, 1940, and was the son of the late Raymond and Florence (Nadeau) Bechard. He was educated in the Nashua School System and was a graduate of Nashua High School with the class of 1956. He continued his education at the former Lowell Technical School, now UMASS Lowell, and graduated Magna Cum Laude with his bachelor's degree in Math with the class of 1972.

Ron proudly served as a United States Marine Reservist for eight years, dedicating himself to the values and traditions of the Corps. His service was marked by discipline, integrity, and a deep sense of duty to his country. Ron's love for America was evident in everything he did, he carried his patriotism with quiet strength and genuine pride. He honored the history of the Marines not only through his service but also through the respect and gratitude he showed for all who served.

Ron began his working years alongside his father, helping to operate Bechard Floor Service, where he learned the value of hard work and attention to detail. In 1961, he began his career at Sanders, serving as an expediter and taking pride in ensuring that every job was completed efficiently and to the highest standard. His dedication and strong work ethic eventually led him to a long and successful career as an insurance agent with State Farm Insurance, where he faithfully served his community for the past 52 years. Ron approached his work with pride, professionalism, and a genuine care for the people he helped every day.

Ron was a generous and selfless man, never one to say no and always ready to volunteer his time to help anyone in need. A kind and gentle soul, he never had a bad word to say about anyone, always choosing instead to see the good in people. Ron was a member of the Rotary Club in Londonderry and the Derry Lions to organize countless community events. Ron diligently worked alongside Kay Doyle for the Santa Fund. A former member of the Nashua Country Club, Ron also demonstrated his generosity through his many donations; most notably as a blood donor, recently earning the distinguished eleven-gallon donation award in recognition of his unwavering commitment to helping others. He enjoyed golfing and playing tennis and was an avid traveler, exploring many destinations with his beloved wife, Barbara. A faithful parishioner of both St. Mark the Evangelist Church and St. Jude's Church in Londonderry, Ron lived his life rooted in faith, kindness, and service. Above all, he cherished his time with his family and friends, whom he loved deeply. Ron will be truly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In addition to his wife, Barbara he is survived by his two children, Sue Bechard and her wife Chase Barnes of Merrimack and Kathi Bernstein and her husband Charlie of Utah; his two granddaughters, Heather and Lauren who affectionately referred to him as Papa; his two siblings, Leon Bechard and his wife Lynn of Amherst and Paul Bechard of Maine. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Donna Bechard, Sue Bechard, and Cathy DiGeronimo; several nieces, nephews, and cousins and a wealth of friends that he kept near and dear.

Ron was predeceased by his sister, Diane Bechard, his brothers, Marc Bechard, Jean Bechard, and Claude Bechard, as well as his sister-in-law, Nancye Bechard.

Relatives and friends are invited to Ron's gathering time on SATURDAY, November 8th from 10 AM until 11 AM prior to his Funeral Mass in St. Mark the Evangelist Church, 1 South Road, Londonderry, NH.
