Rudolph Hackl Obituary

CONCORD - Rudolph "Rudy" Hackl, 84, died Aug. 19, 2011, at Concord Hospital as a result of injuries sustained from an accidental fall.

He was born on July 24, 1927, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of immigrants John and Rose (Ernst) Hackl. He attended City College of New York, where he studied accounting.

His corporate accounting career began in New York City and then led to Bay Village, Ohio. He moved to Bedford and worked for Digital Equipment Corp. until his retirement in 1992.

He was the widow of his loving wife of 53 years, Mary (Sheehy) Hackl, who died in 2006.

Rudy spent the last five years living the good life at Pleasant View Retirement. He was an active member of their social scene and continued doing accounting work for the Residents' Association.

In recent years, he was instrumental in expanding activities available to his peers to include line dancing, a gentlemen's breakfast and drumming. His participation will be surely missed.

Family members include his son, John Hackl of Calif.; two daughters, Jeanne Dorsett and her husband, Tony, of Texas, and Chris Anne Wheeler and her husband, Erik, of Hopkinton; granddaughter Brittny Dorsett; and two beloved grandchildren, Lexi and Paige Wheeler; a sister, Elizabeth Escoda and her husband, John, of Florida; nephews, nieces and cousins. He also leaves behind boundless friends and family across the country.
