Sara Valgean Obituary
She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on June 25, 1928, the daughter of Antonio and Maria Lorefice of Sicily, Italy. Sara was educated in the Brooklyn school system. She began her career as a licensed beautician on the SS United States passenger liner from New York to Europe, where she met and married the father of her two sons, Capt. Bradford T. Herrick Jr., in Aug. 1960, and resided in Norwalk, Conn., before moving to Mission Viejo, Calif.
Teri had a passion for hair, nails and fashion. Those who knew Teri knew she enjoyed and embraced life. She enjoyed traveling, dining, movies, theaters and reading.
She was predeceased by her late husbands, Bradford T. Herrick Jr. and James Valgean; her son, Bradford T. Herrick III; a sister, Matilda "Tilly" Lorefice; brothers, Paul Lorefice and Charlie Lorefice; and nephew, Anthony Garafolo.
Family includes her son, Thomas Anthony Herrick and his wife, Michelle, of Goffstown; a sister, Connie Johansen of Florida; nieces, Patrice Lorefice, Therese Rota, Lynda Lorefice-Daniels, Gina Lorefice and Mary Hall-Arel and her husband, John; and nephews, Paul Lorefice Jr. and his wife, Maria, Mathew Solomeno, Johnny Rota, Darren Johansen and Steven Lorefice, all of New York and New Jersey; several stepchildren and stepgrand children of Orange County, Calif.; and many close family friends of New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Ohio, California and Florida.

services: Calling hours are Tuesday, Feb. 2, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North Street, Manchester. A memorial service celebrating her life will follow immediately at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.

Aunt Teri, I can't believe it has been four years since you left us. I think of you often and cherish the wonderful talks and visits we had together. Teri and I were friends since meeting her at the wig store where she worked in the late 80s in Mission Viejo, Calif. I adored her and thought she was such a beautiful and positive lady. I seem to remember that she lost a son. We wrote and exchanged Christmas cards and I just saw her name in my contact list. Sadly, found her name here and see that we lost her nearly 2 years ago. She gave me certain hours when I could phone her. Just a beautiful and warm lady and kind-hearted. Sorry we have lost you, Teri. I treasured our friendship.
