Shirley McQueeney Obituary

Manchester, NH - Shirley A. McQueeney, 91, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill, MA, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on December 25, 1933, in Ware, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Agnes (Bourdeau) Harper. She was raised and educated in Ware. After high school, she worked at Nashua Shoe, where she met her husband. She later worked at Meggitt Avionics as a resistor winder for many years until her retirement.

Shirley enjoyed wintering in Florida and traveling with her husband. Some of her favorite trips included visits to Aruba and Alaska. Above all, her greatest joy was spending time with family. She loved cheering on and supporting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren at sporting events and recitals. Shirley attended countless basketball, baseball, lacrosse, soccer games, dance recitals, and cheer competitions over the years. She sometimes attended three games in a single day-and loved every moment of it. Her loving presence was always felt, especially at sporting events, where she was known for being very vocal.

Shirley was a member of the William B. Cashin Senior Center in Manchester. She regularly attended line dancing, aerobics, and bingo until 2021. She was also a past member of the Red Hat Society.

Shirley spent 49 loving years with her husband, Patrick F. McQueeney, creating beautiful memories until his passing on May 1, 2005.

Shirley is sadly missed by her daughter, Lynne Godbout (Ronald) of Hooksett; three sons, Patrick J. McQueeney (Joan) of Manchester, James McQueeney of Manchester, and Brian McQueeney (Dawn) of Hooksett; eleven grandchildren, Mandy (Michael), Megan (Jeff), Nicole (Erik), Dillon, Joshua (Dana), Jonathan (Kendzie), Briana (Robert), Kaitlan (Nicholas), Matthew (Leah), Lauren (Steven), and Cameron (Leah); fourteen great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Madison, Manny, Ansley, Gavin, Jaden, Hazel, Ellie, Steven, Abigail, Miliana, Brayden, Brooks, and Aubree; sisters, Joyce "Beverly" Hamel of Pelham, Marlene Delisle (Roger) of Dracut, MA, and Gayle Clark of Punta Gorda, FL; sister-in-law, Sharon Tyler (Patrick) of Hollis; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph "Bill" Harper and his wife, Ellen; and by her sisters- and brothers-in-law: Raymond Hamel, John Clark, Carleen and Ronald Trudeau, Marilyn McQueeney, Catherine and Frank Kelley, and Edward "Eddie" and Jeanette McQueeney; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 4-7 p.m. at McHugh Funeral Home, 283 Hanover St., Manchester, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 10am at St. Peter Catholic Church, 567 Manchester Rd., Auburn, NH. Burial will follow in the family lot at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford, NH.

Shirley's family would like to share their heartfelt gratitude for the care she received from Elliot VNA, High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill, MA, and BrightStar Care caregivers. A special thank-you to Gau, Jordan, Zule, and Cali-Shirley could not have remained at home as long as she did without you. We are forever grateful.

For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made in Shirley's name to the Alzheimer's Association, the Elliot VNA, or High Pointe House.
