HOLLIS -- Shirley A. Rudman, 81, died Aprl 30, 2010, surrounded by her husband and children following a very brief illness.
She was born in Utica, N.Y., attended local schools, and went on to Syracuse University, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude majoring in mathematics and chemistry. She also received a master's degree in computer science from the University of Lowell and an MBA from Georgetown University.
During her lifetime, she served on the faculty of Rivier College and Daniel Webster College. She also worked for Norden Systems in the public relations field and had a successful real estate career. She was an avid instrument-rated pilot.
IN HER LIFE: Family members include her husband, former U.S. Senator Warren B. Rudman; two daughters, Laura Rudman Robie and Debra Gilmore, and a son-in-law Daniel Gilmore.
She was preceded in death by her son, Alan H. Rudman. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Benjamin, Rebecca and Sarah Gilmore, and a brother, Edward Cobb, and his wife, Jacqueline.
SERVICES: Services and interment will be private. The family will hold a memorial service for invited guests later this month.
