Susan Lanza Obituary

GOFFSTOWN -- Susan M. Lanza, 69, died April 13, 2008, at home after a brief illness.

She was born in 1939 in Yugoslavia to Theresa (Leffler) and John Mettler.

She immigrated to New York at age 13. She graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas School in the Bronx.

She married Joseph V. Lanza in 1958, and he predeceased her in 1995.

She worked for more than 35 years for New York Telephone Co., retiring in 2000.

She moved from New York City to Passaic, N.J., in 1984 and to Goffstown in 2003.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and enjoyed spending time with her family.

IN HER LIFE: She is survived by four sons and their wives, Joseph and Judi Lanza of Goffstown, John and Denise Lanza of South Setauket, N.Y., Richard and Christine Lanza of Elmwood Park, Ill., and Michael Lanza and his girlfriend Susan of Port Orange, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.

SERVICES: Calling hours are Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, N.J.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Clare Church in Clifton. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, N.J.

Memorial donations may be sent to Manchester VNA-Hospice, 33 S. Commercial St., Suite 401, Manchester 03101.

The Phaneuf Funeral Home assisted with local arrangements.
