Thomas F. Carroll Jr.

Thomas F. Carroll, Jr., 73, passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, in the presence of his immediate family.

Tom (aka Papa Tom and Tuff Tom) was born on August 6, 1948 in Manchester, NH and was the oldest of nine children. He graduated from Winnacunnet High School in 1966, and received a Bachelor of Business Science degree in 1971 from NH college in Manchester.

During his NH college years, he worked part time at Cheddie's Donut Shop on Chestnut Street and was a member of the Army National Guard in Manchester, NH and the Air National Guard in Burlington, VT.

At NH College he met Linda (Glass) Carroll and the two were married in April of 1972. This same year, Tom joined the Internal Revenue Service in Burlington V.T. as a Special Agent in their criminal investigative division. In 1976 he transferred to the Brattleboro, VT office where he lived in Putney, VT before building a home in Vernon, VT. In 1992 he transferred and became part of the Springfield, MA office where he remained for 10 years until he moved with his family to Manchester, NH, retiring from the Manchester office in May 2005. Following retirement Tom worked as a school bus driver for 5 years at Manchester Transit Authority.

Tom was predeceased by his parents Thomas F. Carroll and Irene (Duguay) Carroll; two brothers Jimmy Carroll and Kevin Carroll; and one Sister Sue (Carroll) Cuvellier.

Tom is survived by his wife Linda (Glass) Carroll; his three daughters Melissa Carroll of Astoria, NY, Nicole (Carroll) Kicklighter and her husband Ashley of Nashville, TN, and Jamie Carroll of Nashville, TN; Three grandchildren, Sophia, Ezra, and Olivia; his siblings Pam (Carroll) House and her husband Richard, Dick Carroll and his wife Lois, Peter Carroll, Mary (Carroll) DeFreze and her husband Frank, Marc Carroll; several nieces and nephews.

Tom enjoyed playing (and losing) golf with his friends and family; kayaking, canoeing, camping, and playing frisbee golf. He was excellent at woodworking, building furniture, remodeling his homes; and had a deep love for music (especially Bob Dylan).

Tom was a generous man who would do anything for his family. His humor, wit, and sarcasm will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Services: A calling hour will be held Friday, August 27, 2021, from 10 to 11 AM at Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union Street, Manchester, NH.

A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 11 AM.
