1949 - 2021

Tom Stuart died at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at the age of 72.

He was the beloved husband of Barbara Stuart and loving father to Jeff (Amy), John (Tisha), Brian (partner Brittany) and Michael (JoHannah) Stuart. He was preceded in death by his daughter Katherine. He is survived by siblings Richard Stuart, Janet Stuart Ciano, Mary Kay Stuart and Paul Stuart as well as multiple nieces and nephews.

Tom was born in Jamaica Plain, MA., on November 10, 1949, to the late Thomas and Katherine Stuart. He graduated from Catholic Memorial High School in West Roxbury, MA., and the University of New Hampshire.

Tom had a 30-year career with Verizon and its predecessors before joining Byers Engineering where he enjoyed another 15 years.

Tom was a humble and private man whose greatest joy was his family of whom he was most proud. He was the loving Grampy/Bebe to Ryan, Will, Lilly, Sawyer, Isaac, Baxter, Evelyn and Michael. Nothing gave him greater joy than to have his family together. Tom wanted his journey through cancer to set a positive example for his family. He continued to work and live life to the fullest right up until the time of his death.

Services: A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home - Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad Street, Portsmouth. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at the Immaculate Conception Church of Corpus Christi Parish, Summer Street, Portsmouth. Interment will follow in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Portsmouth. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Seacoast Cancer Center, 789 Central Ave, Dover, NH 03820.
