William Pineault Obituary

William A. Pineault, 66, passed away at his home in Fairbanks, Alaska, on Dec. 5, 2021. He was predeceased by his wife, Susan J. Lattin.

Bill was born in Manchester, N.H., in 1955, the son of Alfred J. Pineault and Annette D. Pineault (Desrochers).

Upon graduation from Manchester High School West in 1973, he enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska, with the 18th Tactical Fighter Squadron and became an F-4 Phantom crew chief. After 3 1/2 years Bill was honorably discharged from active duty and he then joined the Alaska Air National Guard. This opportunity allowed Bill to fulfill a lifelong dream to live in Alaska. He joined the 176th Airlift Wing at Kulis AANGB in Anchorage as a crew chief and flight engineer on the C-130 aircraft. Bill was eventually assigned to the ANG 168th Refueling Wing at Eielson AFB, in North Pole, Alaska, where he served as a fuel specialist on the KC-135 refueling aircraft. The missions of both the 176th and 168th wings afforded Bill the opportunity to see and visit many locations worldwide, earning many medals and decorations along the way. Bill retired as a Master Sergeant in 1999, with over 26 years of service.

He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Nancy Dussault (George), Linda Aubin (Lee), and Margaret Brownell (John), Thomas Pineault (Judy), Peter Pineault (Nanette), James Pineault (Aimee), and Alfred Pineault (Victoria). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and grand-nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his brother, Russell.

Bill was always interested in aircraft and enjoyed working on his own small Piper Cub. He loved his family and took great pride in his Air Force service.

The graveside service will be handled by the Fairbanks Funeral Home and will be held at the Northern Lights Cemetery in Fairbanks at 2 p.m. on June 15, 2022.

My sincere condolences to tue Pineault family. I went to school with Billy. And my ex brother in law Bill Eskel was in service with Billy. He too was stationed in Fairbanks and if memories serve me they drove cross country back to NH together. RIP
