William Walsh Obituary
Bill died peacefully in Sarasota, Fla.
Born in NYC, he attended Queens College before enlisting in the Army, 23rd Infantry, in battles of the Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. Post-war, he attended University of Virginia and Columbia University Physicians and Surgeons and practiced family medicine in New Hampton, 1954-1996.
He was a lifelong member of the NH Academy of Family Physicians, served as president in 1969, was affiliated with Lakes Region General Hospital, where he served a term as chief of staff, and helped found the Emergency Department/Walk-in Clinic. He was the doctor for The New Hampton School.
After a stroke in 1996, he became a watercolor and oil artist. His passions were raising chickens, and his vegetable garden.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne Copenhaver Fowler Walsh; his children, Nancy Walsh Isaac, grandchildren, Katie
and Jeremy; William Bennet Walsh and his son, Jackson; Corey Walsh; and three stepsons, Gregg, Peter, and Douglas Fowler and six grandchildren: Carson, Jane, Paul, Caroline, Jake, Lucy.

Dr. Walsh and I worked together at Golden View Health Care Center in Meredith, N.H. He was a great physician. His practice encompassed delivering babies to caring for the elderly . I did not know he attended Queens College. I studied there too. I am glad he enjoyed his years after he no longer practiced medicine. He was a smart and good man.
