MECHANICSBURG - Coletta Marie Schaffner, 82, of Mechanicsburg passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017 in Essex of Springfield.
She was born April 7, 1935 in Ripley, Ohio, the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Spiller) Schumacher. Coletta was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Mechanicsburg. As our hearts ache for the physical loss of her, we find solace knowing that she is now with God. She is at peace. And for that, we are grateful.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, James Schaffner; her sons, Cliff (Lisa) Schaffner of Trenton, OH, Joseph (Debbie) Schaffner of Mechanicsburg, OH, and Todd Schaffner of Plain City, OH; her daughters, Ann Marie (Paul) Smith of Chesapeke, VA and Joan Carole Stoltzenberger-Schaffner of Liberty Township, OH; her brothers, Bernard (Frankie) Schumacher of Ripley, OH, Stanley Schumacher of Meza, AZ and James (Judy) Schumacher of Carlisle, OH; her sister-in-law, Lois Schumacher of Ripley, OH; her 15 grandchildren; her 10 great-grandchildren; and her several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Paul, Raymond and Clem Schumacher; and Mary Ann Paeltz of Russellville.
A gathering of family and friends will be held 9-10 a.m. on Monday, April 17, 2017 in the SKILLMAN, McDONALD & VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Mechanicsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 17, 2017 in St. Michael's Catholic Church, Mechanicsburg, with Father Larry Gearhart officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 2017 in Maplewood Cemetery, Ripley, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael's Catholic Church, 40 Walnut St., Mechanicsburg, Ohio 43044.
