Gregory Moore Obituary

URBANA – Gregory Leigh Moore, 78 of Urbana, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2024 in the Springfield Regional Medical Center.

He was born on May 2, 1946 in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Lewis B. and Jean (Wenger) Moore. Greg grew up attending Urbana schools and completed his education at Culver Military Academy, graduating in 1964. He furthered his studies at DePauw University, earning a bachelor's degree in business, and later obtained a master's degree in business from the University of Michigan.

Following college, Greg went on a blind date arranged by friends on Nov. 12, 1970. He later married the love of his life Connie Hoffmann on Nov. 12, 1972 in Long Island, New York, at St. Joseph Church.

Following their marriage, Greg and Connie relocated to Urbana, where Greg embarked on a successful career. He began his professional journey at Grimes Manufacturing, working in the purchasing department. He then held an executive position at PRP Johnson Manufacturing before assuming the role of Vice President of Manufacturing at Crown Equipment Corporation. Greg concluded his career with distinction as Chief Financial Officer at Urbana University.

He was very community-minded, serving on the Grimes Foundation, the Moore Family Foundation, a former long-time school board member of Urbana City Schools and was a strong supporter of Urbana University, following in his parents' footsteps. He also was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Urbana Country Club.

Greg enjoyed watching the OSU football and basketball teams, golf, and traveling to South Carolina, especially, to play golf. Most of all, he loved his family and spending time with them, either watching the grandkids play their sports or playing Euchre.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Constance "Connie" (Hoffmann) Moore; his children, Barb (George) Prosser, Brian (Randi) Moore and Sharon Moore; grandchildren, Garrick, Cayden and Sophie Prosser, Max and Jacob Moore; his brother, Keith Moore; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Greg is preceded in death by his parents and father and mother-in-law, Walter and Catherine Hoffmann.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024 in VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, Ohio.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2024 in the First Presbyterian Church – 116 W. Court St., Urbana, Ohio 43078 with Pastor Bruce Miller and Pastor Ray Branstiter officiating.
