URBANA - Howard T. Heck, 100 of Urbana went home to be with the Lord, Monday, October 09, 2017 very peacefully in his home.
He was born December 30, 1916 in North Hampton, Ohio. Howard retired after many years of service from Grimes Manufacturing Company in the plating department. He was a devoted member of the Urbana Church of Christ in Christian Union. He was a man of many talents. He was a farmer, a carpenter, a contractor, just an all-around handyman. Howard will be remembered as a kindhearted individual who cared deeply for others and would do anything for others.
He is survived by his sons, Jerry (Mary) Heck and Chuck (Linda) Heck; his step-son, Otis H. (Dorothy) Smith, his 10 grandchildren, Jeff, Sherry, Sharron, Donna, Amanda, Kimberly and Jasen, Cindy (Ron),Randy and Brian, 12 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren; his siblings, Leila Zerkle, Naomi Duff & Marvin Heck; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Thurman and Maye (Botkin) Heck; his wife, Mary (Stapleton) Heck, daughter Diane Heck, step-daughter, Irene Cornell and his siblings, Lee, Warren, Belva and Buelah.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, October 15, 2017 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 16, 2017 in the Urbana Church of Christ in Christian Union with Pastors Rev. Mike Grable and Rev. David VanHoose officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Cemetery, West Liberty, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Urbana Church of Christ in Christian Union, 1121 N. Main St., Urbana, OH 43078.
