CABLE – Howard E. "Gene" Instine, 86, of Cable, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 in Springfield Regional Medical Center.
Howard was born May 26, 1936 in Cable, Ohio the son of the late William and Alice (McDaniel) Instine. Howard was a 1954 graduate of Wayne Woodstock. He was a member and served as a Deacon at Urbana Free Will Baptist Church. Howard retired from Navistar in 1998 after 42 years of service. He enjoyed traveling, hunting and fishing.
Howard is survived by his wife of 66 years, Delores (Mingus) Instine; children, Scott Instine and Crystal (Steve) Bostick; son-in-law, John Litteral; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings, Robert (Ann) Instine, William "Bill" (Nancy) Instine, Caroline Outram and Shirley Tulley; brother-in-law, Rev. David Mingus as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Terrie Litteral.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, June 10, 2022 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022 in the Urbana Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Cordell officiating.
Burial will follow in Jenkins Chapel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Urbana Free Will Baptist Church, 1658 E. US Hwy 36, Urbana, Ohio 43078.
