URBANA – James W. Inskeep, 80, of Urbana, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born in Urbana, Ohio, on May 21, 1940, the son of the late Truman and Flossie (Snarr) Inskeep.
Jim was a proud veteran serving in the United States Army and he also owned Jim Inskeep Construction. He was an avid fisherman, loved sports of all kinds, enjoyed playing cards with friends and family, and cherished the moments he got to watch his great-grandchildren play ball. He was a uniquely resourceful, tough but gentle soul. He was a big man with a bigger heart and bigger than life, not just physically, but in his presence.
Survivors include his loving daughter, Teresa (Chris) Stokes; granddaughter, Allison Paige Inskeep; nephews, John (Genevieve) Geib and Jim (Candra) Geib; niece, Julie Bradley; and cousins, Richard (Jane) Snarr, Carolyn (Don) Croft and Sue Boyd. Jim was also a loving grandfather to his step-grandchildren, Chris (April) Stokes II, Amber (Ryan) Swain and Geron (Michele) Stokes; and step-great grandchildren, Chris Stokes III, Caden, Carson Stokes, Roman, Brooklyn, Cameron, and Ian Swain, and Samantha Stokes.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susan Mary Inskeep on January 30, 2019, son, David F. Inskeep, and sister, Gayle Inskeep.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 in the WALTER & LEWIS FUNERAL HOME. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 11 a.m. also at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow with military honors at Oak Dale Cemetery.
