Laurie Dozer Obituary

MECHANICSBURG – Laurie Dozer, 56, of Lancaster, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022 surrounded by her loving family, after a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer in The OSU-James Cancer Hospital, Columbus, Ohio.

Laurie Jean Dozer was born to Wilma and Larry Harvey on Aug. 17, 1965, in Ft. Dodge, Iowa. During her formative years, she lived with her family in Ft. Dodge, Iowa, Greenwood, Indiana, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Indianola, Iowa. She spent much of her school career in Indianola, graduating from high school there.

Following high school, she moved back to Colorado, where she met a young soldier named Brian. Sparks flew and they were united in marriage on Feb. 17, 1986, eventually moving to Germany where he was stationed with the Army for several years. To this union one daughter, Stephanie, was born. Once they returned to the US, they lived in Ohio and Illinois, eventually returning to live in London, where they spent much of their married lives.

Laurie graduated from Quincy College School of Nursing in Quincy, Illinois, working as a nurse in several healthcare settings, until her retirement due to illness. She loved being a nurse, and was a caring, compassionate professional.

She had a benevolent spirit, having great compassion for those less fortunate, along with being a tremendous animal lover. She was a talented artist with an imaginative nature. She was a loyal friend and wonderful old soul.

Laurie was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws Linda and Bob Dozer, along with her fur babies Duchess, Scooter, Viper, and Paxton.

Surviving her is her husband, Brian, formerly of Mechanicsburg, daughter, Stephanie Dozer-Presley (Robert), of London, fur babies Fletch, Maggie, and Smoky, sister, Lisa Rock (Jeffrey) of Urbandale, Iowa, sister-in-law Kim Ward (Jack) of Lakeview, niece Sarah Wilkerson (Ryan) and family of Nampa, Idaho, niece Amanda Haynes (Sarah) of Dayton, nephew Bill Haynes (Christina) and family of Mechanicsburg, along with various extended family members and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 1, 2022, in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Mechanicsburg, Ohio with Pastor Dave Cox officiating. The family will receive friends 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.

The family would like to thank her physicians, Dr. Ashish Manne and Dr. Allan Tsung, and their medical team for her care and for being accommodating through this journey.

We love you and miss you. Until we meet again.
