Lowell Holycross Obituary
URBANA - Lowell "Melvin" Holycross, 79, of Urbana, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 in the Green Hills Care Center.
Melvin was born May 13, 1942 in North Lewisburg, Ohio, the son of the late Lowell and Mildred (Coe) Holycross. He married the love of his life, Gracie Frazier, on November 14, 1965 in North Lewisburg. They spent 55 years together. He retired as a mechanic at Trenor's Motors after 40 years of service. Melvin was a member of the Urbana Church of Christ in Christian Union. He was known as the family handyman and liked to color.
Melvin is survived by his wife, Gracie (Frazier) Holycross; children, Christina (Brian) Smith, Curtis Holycross and Catherine (Nic) Kreakie; grandchildren, Mason & Aden Holycross, Martina and Mary Jean Kreakie; siblings, Charlotte (Bill) Gorton, Floyd (Helen) Holycross and Kay (Dave) Strobel; nephew, David (Robin) Moody.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty (Ralph) Stockman; brother-in-law, Roger Frazier; sisters-in-law, Janie Frazier, Martha Fraley; niece, Sarah Strobel and nephew, Melvin "Peanut" McGill.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, September 27, 2021 in VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, Ohio. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 in the Urbana Church of Christ in Christian Union with Pastor David VanHoose officiating. The family will also receive friends from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service.
Burial will follow in Oak Dale Cemetery, Urbana, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Urbana Church of Christ in Christian Union, 1121 N Main St, Urbana, OH 43078.
