MECHANICSBURG – Margaret Ann "Peg" (Langen) Baltes, 87 of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024 at her residence.
Born on June 25, 1937 in Springfield, Ohio, Peg was the daughter of the late Robert Francis Langen and Eleanor Sarah (Roberts) Langen. She was a proud graduate of Springfield Catholic Central High School in 1955 and went on to earn her nursing degree through Good Samaritan in 1958. Peg dedicated her life to caring for others, working in hospitals, nursing homes, and home health care, until her retirement in 2002. Afterward, she devoted herself to caring for her beloved husband.
Peg's passion for helping others extended beyond her career. She was a member of St. Luke's Parish in Beavercreek, Ohio, and St. Michael's Church in Mechanicsburg where she taught CCD. Her commitment to her faith and community was evident throughout her life. In 2009, Peg made her profession in the Secular Order of Franciscans, and she also traveled on a mission trip to Haiti in 2001 – an experience she cherished deeply.
Outside of her devotion to others, Peg had many hobbies and interests. She was a lifelong sports fan, particularly of the Cincinnati Reds and THE Ohio State University teams. She also enjoyed working on puzzles, creating diamond art, and participating in various community activities, including shows with the Mother's Memorial Circle and crafting Senior Fruit Baskets. Peg was a dedicated participant in the Cancer to A Tea fundraiser through the Breast Friends Forever association.
Most of all, Peg was known for her kind heart and caring attitude. She cherished her family deeply, and nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Maria Eileen (Baltes) (McNicol) (David) Baker, Susan Kathleen (Baltes) (Tony) Roland, Judith Ann (Baltes) (James) Rannes; sons, Gerald Anthony (Marti) Baltes and David Allen Baltes; grandchildren, Jessica L. I'm so sorry to hear of her passing. I worked many nights with Peg at Champaign Nursing Home in the early 80's. She was a very sweet lady and a very good nurse.
