MECHANICSBURG - Michael L. Edgington, age 72, of Mechanicsburg, OH passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021 in his residence. Born on March 28, 1949 in Washington Court House, OH, Mike was a son of the late Paul and Virginia (Long) Edgington.
Mike is survived by his wife, Nancy (Mattox) Edgington whom he married on October 2, 2004 in Rosewood, OH. He is also survived by a son, David (Tami) Edgington of NC. He was a loving stepfather to Amy Morris of Cedarville, OH, Brian (Lindsey) Jones of Fall Branch, TN, and Becky Lookabaugh of South Vienna, OH. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren: Elle, Matt, Devon, Alexis, Paislee, Kayden, Cooper, Kaitlyn, Gunner, Levi, D.J., Elaine, Austin and Peyton. He will be missed by his brother-in-law, Ron (Beth) Mattox of Rosewood, and sisters-in-law, Terri Edgington of Greenfield, OH, Linda Bowen of West Jefferson, OH. Sharon (Ed) Conley of St. Paris, OH, Barbara (Paul) Perkins of Piqua, OH and a special nephew and his wife Joe and Jill Edgington of Peebles OH. Many additional extended family members also survive him.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers Stephen and Charles Edgington, a sister Patricia Chance, brother James Bowen, brother-in-law Charles Mattox, Jr., son-in-law Nick Morris, and father and mother-in-law Charles and Jennie Mattox.
Mike was a 1968 graduate of Miami Trace High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from Navistar of Springfield, OH. Mike loved NHRA drag racing. He drag raced for years.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 8, 2021 in the ATKINS-SHIVELY FUNERAL HOME, 216 S. Springfield Street, Saint Paris, Ohio with Pastor Aaron Stevenson of Grace Baptist Church, Urbana, OH presiding. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery, 1504 N. Heck Hill Road, St. Paris, OH.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. in the funeral home.
