SPRINGFIELD - Norman R. Walley, 90, of Springfield, entered his heavenly reward on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 in Heartland of Urbana. He was born June 24, 1926 in Springfield, the son of Glenn F. and Ida (Leath) Walley. Norm had worked for Ohio Edison for 38 years, retiring in 1987 as a line supervisor. He worshiped at Springfield Church of Christ, was an avid golfer, fisherman, antique collector and wood worker. Prior to being drafted he attended Springfield High School class of 1945. Norm was a US Army Veteran assigned to the 16th armored engineering battalion spearheads and served under Gen. George Patton during WWII. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Norma (Baldwin); daughter, Nita Walley, Springfield; son, Mike (Karen) Walley, Waynesville, NC; grandson, Brian Mabry (fiancee Christina Knief), Wilmington, OH; sister, Jewell O'Brien, Wisconsin; three nieces, Cathy Vanderheiden, Theresa Pichelmeyer and Sharon LaVelle. He was preceded in death by his son, Neal Walley, a sister, Avonell Nolan, a brother Ralph Walley. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Springfield Church of Christ. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the church with an additional hour of visitation beginning at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Springfield Church of Christ or New Moorefield United Methodist Church. The family is being served by CONROY FUNERAL HOME.

I worked with Norm at the York Street Service Building. He was very helpful when I became supervisor He will be missed and I pass on my deepest sympathy.

Norma and family Sorry to hear about Norm always enjoyed him all the years at Reid Park and I am sure my parents will miss him dearly after all of the years the have know him and you. RIP
