URBANA – Reldon Laurel Macy, 79 of Urbana, passed away peacefully in his home on Nov. 2, 2025.
He was born on Oct. 9, 1946 in Troy, Ohio, the son of Laurel Thomas and Ketha (Vore) Macy.
Reldon proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was an expert in home repair and eventually earned an associate's degree in electrical and fluid power control systems. He spent the final two decades of his life as an adjunct instructor at Clark State where he enjoyed teaching and mentoring others.
He was a man who never hesitated to lend a helping hand. Those who knew him best will remember his kindness, his love for the outdoors, and his devotion to family. He was a loving husband, a devoted dad, and an enthusiastic grandpa who cherished time spent with his grandchildren.
Reldon was an active leader in the Boy Scouts of America for many years, sharing his passion for cycling, hiking, and the outdoors with others. He was also a proud member of Mended Hearts, the Urbana Senior Citizens Center, and the American Legion.
He is survived by his sons, Ryan (Elizabeth Gross) Macy and Chris Macy; his grandchildren, Andrew, Graham, and Elana; his brother, Ron (Terry) Macy; and his sisters, Laureen (Al) Steiner and Wanda (Dave) Cheatwood. He is also survived by his former wife, Jane Wood.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Delores (Marvin) Hart; and his first wife, Cynthia Dunton Macy.
Reldon will be remembered for his generous spirit, his dedication to others, and his enduring love for his family.
A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2025 at VERNON FUNERAL HOMES, Urbana, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037-0839, where Reldon donated several gallons of his blood over the course of his life.
