URBANA – Rose Marie Ratcliff, age 84, passed away peacefully on Oct. 21, 2025. She was born on March 30, 1941 in Champaign County, Ohio, daughter of the late William Hatcher and Julia (Houser) Hooser.
Rose is survived by her loving daughters, Tamera (Russell) Johnson, Audrey Norris, Billie (Terry) Hughes, Tonie (Daniel) Trimble, and Kellie (Jason) Scott, grandchildren, Natalie, Sara, Anastasia, Erika, Steven, Kaila, Joshua, Elisha, Nina, Chloe, Clorissa, Gaven, Christofer, Elijah, Lauren, Emily, and Abigail, 31 great-grandchildren with 3 on the way, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Billy Lee Ratcliff, father, mother, step-father, Pete Hooser, and siblings, Robert and William Hatcher.
A devoted homemaker, Rose cultivated a warm and inviting home that served as the heart of her family. She poured her love and energy into every corner of her life, ensuring that her family felt cared for and supported. Her nurturing spirit extended to her grandchildren, who were the joy of her life. She enjoyed spending time with them, sharing stories, and creating lasting memories, always filling the room with her laughter and warmth.
Rose relished her time traveling, particularly to the shores of North Carolina and South Carolina. She took delight in cleaning, reveling in the satisfaction of a tidy home. Rose also had a passion for bingo, puzzles, crosswords, and word searches, activities that showcased her brilliance and love for a good challenge. A cherished matriarch, she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, Oct. 31, 2025 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the WALTER AND LEWIS FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, St. Paris. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ohio's Hospice in Rose's honor. Wish I could attend but cannot get off of work. Condolences to the immediate family! We had so much fun when we were younger at Great Grandma Boyd's house in St. Paris and my Grandma Copas's house, you will always be a Rosie to me.
