URBANA – Steven Alan Moore, 74 of Urbana, passed away on March 14, 2025 in Memorial Hospital, Marysville.
He was born on March 22, 1950 in Columbus, Ohio, to Gene and Evelyn Moore.
Steve was a 1968 graduate of Madison South High School. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree in education from Urbana University, followed by a Master's in education from Wright State University. Steve spent his career as a dedicated special education teacher, working in various schools to make a difference in the lives of his students. On Jan. 2, 1971, he married the love of his life, Pamela Ross, at the Presbyterian Church in Urbana, Ohio.
Steve was an active and dedicated member of several local clubs and organizations, where he generously volunteered his time to help improve the community and make a positive impact on those around him. He was involved with the Harmony Lodge #8, Champaign County Shrine, Caroline Chapter #39 O.E.S., Children Dyslexia Center of Dayton, Urbana VFW, Urbana Moose Lodge. He also dedicated his time and service as a past member of the Urbana City Council, the Champaign County Board of Elections, and the Urbana Lions Club, where he proudly served as past president. He also was a member of the Urbana Methodist Church.
In his free time, he enjoyed bowling, traveling and was passionate about sports, especially supporting the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Bengals. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and especially watching his kids and grandkids play sports and took great pride in their accomplishments.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Pam Moore; his sons, Shawn (Rebecca) Moore and Brenden (Laura) Moore; his grandchildren, Brody, Carys, Gavin, Mattie, Sophia, Zoe, Aiden; his sisters, Rose and Melanie Moore; sisters-in-law, Peggy Wilson and Patti (Scott) Spangler and many nephews and one niece.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Evelyn Moore, and his in-laws, Dean and Jean Ross.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3-6 p.m. on Friday March 21, 2025 in VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana Ohio. Eastern Star & Masonic Honors will begin at 6 p.m.
Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor Christopher Dinnell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
