Virginia Lee Ankrom

URBANA – Virginia Lee Ankrom, born on Aug. 16, 1936 in Williams Port, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025 in Urbana, Ohio, surrounded by her family.

Virginia was the epitome of a loving mother and devoted homemaker, passionately dedicated to caring for her family and creating a nurturing environment filled with love and warmth.

Throughout her life, Virginia possessed a natural ability to see the good in everyone around her. Her caring and selfless nature made her not only the heart of her home but a guiding light for many within her family. She took immense pride in her role as a mother and grandmother, instilling her nurturing spirit in not just her own children but in many others she raised with love and kindness.

With a warm smile and a gentle heart, she brought joy to those around her. She was a beautiful pianist, and her love for coloring and drawing reflected her creative spirit.

Virginia leaves behind her beloved family: her children, Gary (Charlene) Ankrom, Jeff Ankrom, Lorie Scheiderer, Tracy Starks, and Jeff and Tracy Mansfield; her cherished 17 grandchildren and multiple great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward her legacy of love. A special mention goes to Jordan Rittenhouse, her granddaughter, who lovingly cared for her throughout her illness, demonstrating the deep bonds of affection and gratitude that defined Virginia's relationships; Jenny Ridley, a dear family friend, also contributed to Virginia's care, showing the loving spirit that surrounded her life.

Virginia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Ankrom; her parents, Chester and Elsie Mae (Whaley) Large; her son Bryan Ankrom; and grandsons, Lance Scheiderer and Noah Lawson.

She will always be remembered for the laughter and joy she brought into the lives of her family, as well as the memories made throughout the years.

Visitation will be held on July 5, 2025 from 1-3 p.m., followed by a funeral service beginning at 3 p.m. at WALTER AND LEWIS FUNERAL HOME. Honorary pallbearers will include Gary Ankrom, Jeff Ankrom, Bryan Rittenhouse, Zach Scheiderer, Ross Ankrom and Joe Ankrom.
