TROY – Virginia "Ginny" Poling of Troy, Ohio, was called home by Jesus on Aug. 25, 2025 at Story Point in Troy.
Ginny was born on Sept. 4, 1939 in Jackson Township, St. Paris, Ohio, the youngest daughter of the late James A. Eaton and Mary Ellen Neese Eaton Barger. She was a member of the Grafton Church, St. Paris, Ohio, and a 1957 graduate of Christiansburg-Jackson High School.
After graduation, she worked as a clerk typist for Hobart Mfg. Co. in Troy, Ohio. Through the years she worked at Graham Junior High School, St. Paris, Ohio, Stouder Hospital, Troy, Ohio, CitiFed Mortgage in Springfield, Ohio and retired in 2004 from the Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy, Ohio.
Ginny continued her education in various office training and computer classes at local JVS and community colleges. She is a past member of the American Business Women's Assoc. in Troy and Hamilton, Ohio.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Brook W. Poling, her sister and brother-in-law Vivian and Clyde Lippencott, niece Kathy Baker and former husband, Billy W. Poling.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie (Steve) Deak of Germantown, OH and her children, Allison (Grant) Taylor of Bloomfield, NJ and Jon Deak of Fort Collins, CO, Brook's children, Levi (Nataya) Poling of North Lewisburg, OH and Lauren (Brian) Tegtmeyer of Xenia, OH, her great-grandchildren Tyler, Amber and Alyssa Tegtmeyer, Caleb and Jacob Poling, daughter-in-law Joan Simpson Poling (Mark) Henry, of West Liberty, OH, nieces Kim Lippencott of Troy, OH and Kelly (Roger) Maggert of Conover, OH, her cousins and lifelong high school friends.
Ginny will be remembered as always talkative, part jokester, enjoying her family, her love of reading, and visiting with her friends and neighbors.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and staff at Story Point as well as the Day City Hospice staff for their compassionate care.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2025 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, Ohio.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, 2025 in the funeral home with Pastor Mark Atterholt officiating. Burial will follow at the Terre Haute Cemetery.
