Wilda Hayes

HUNTSVILLE - Wilda "Willie" Ruth Hayes, 85, of Huntsville, OH passed away Monday, March 21, 2016, at Memorial Hospital, Marysville, OH.

Willie was born on August 25, 1930 in Huntsville to the late Roy E. & Florence Myrle Idle Snapp. On September 30, 1949, she married Thomas Hayes, Jr. in Hicksville, IN and he preceded her in death in 1994. She was also preceded in death by an infant sister, a sister, Avis Nicholas, and two brothers, Howard and Dwight Snapp.

She is survived by a daughter, Jan (Chris) Winder of Huntsville, a granddaughter, Jamie (Chad) Ross, also of Huntsville, two great grandchildren, Regan and Riley, a sister, Donna Voorhies of Bellefontaine, OH, five brothers, Richard (Evelyn) Snapp of Russells Point, OH, Emerson (Sheila) Snapp of Huntsville, Wilbur (India Ann) Snapp of Helen, GA, Dale (Dorothy) Snapp of Bellefontaine, and Ron (Judy) Snapp of Findlay, OH, five sisters-in-law, Madeline Snapp of Huntsville, and Pat Snapp of Bellefontaine, Annie Preston, Martha Koch and Sue Sturgis, all of Kenton, OH, two brothers-in-law, Richard (Barb) Hayes and Harold (Joyce) Hayes, both of Kenton and several nieces and nephews.

Willie was a 1948 graduate of Huntsville School. She worked for DAB Industries in Bellefontaine and retired from the Logan County Auditor's Office. She was a member of the Huntsville United Methodist Church and King's Daughters. She enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, being with family, especially spending time with her granddaughter and great granddaughters. She will be greatly missed by her family and everyone who knew her.

Reverend Bryan Meadows will begin funeral services at 4:00 p.m., Friday March 25, 2016 at Huntsville United Methodist Church with visitation two hours prior. Burial is in Huntsville Cemetery.

Contributions may be given in her name to The Top of Ohio Pet Shelter or United Way of Logan County.
