Arnold Kloven Obituary

Arnold J. Kloven, Jr. 1941 - 2017
ROME - Arnold J. Kloven, Jr., 76, passed away unexpectedly after an extended illness on Sunday, September 17, 2017.
Known as Jan at home and A.J. at work, he was born on June 25, 1941 in New Orleans, LA, the son of the late Arnold, Sr. and Memory Wyman Kloven. Jan graduated from Grossmont High School in California and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree from San Diego State College. On March 22, 1964 in La Jolla, CA, Jan was united in marriage to Barbara Floore. He became an officer in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country for over eleven years. Jan then continued his career as a civilian employee with Rome Lab, retiring in 2005. In his younger years, Jan loved the outdoors while fishing, hunting and golfing and especially cherished his time boating on Lake Delta or the St. Lawrence River. An intelligent and curious man, he could think up a solution to any problem and offer a ready bit of trivia on any topic.
Jan is survived by his wife, of 53 years, Barbara; daughter, Kristen Kloven, of Rochester; brother-in-law, Stephen Floore, of CA; close friend, Cliff Carroll, of Rome; and many colleagues and friends.
In keeping with Mr. Kloven's wishes, there will be no formal funeral service.
Relatives, friends and colleagues are invited to call during the Celebration of his Life on Friday, September 22 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Gulla Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 209 N. Washington St., Rome (315-336-5700).
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 125 Business Park Dr., Suite 106, Utica, NY 13502 or the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215.
